What happens to your photographs
Each photograph is re-saved here in your browser first, which removes the hidden data phone cameras attach — including the exact location it was taken. That happens before anything could ever be uploaded, so a published memorial never carries it either. No face or animal is ever analysed or recognised.

A draft and a published memorial are two different things
Writing one costs nothing and sends nothing. Publishing one is a deliberate step you take at the end, and this is exactly what it changes.

The draft lives in this browser and nowhere else.
- It is saved to this browser as you type, and it survives closing the tab.
- No account, no password and no email address are needed to write it.
- Nothing is uploaded. Final Tail does not receive what you write or the photographs you choose.
- The memorial card, the printed document and the export file are all made here, offline.
- Clearing this browser's site data deletes the draft, so export a copy if it matters.
Only if you choose it
When you choose to publish
The memorial and the photographs you selected are uploaded to Final Tail and stored, so the page has an address other people can open.
- The text and the photographs are transmitted over an encrypted connection and kept in private storage.
- An email address is required. It is used once, to send you the link that manages the memorial — there is still no account and no password.
- You choose who can reach it: private, unlisted or public. That choice is applied when the page is served, not merely remembered.
- A public memorial is only offered to search engines if you tick the separate consent. Choosing 'public' does not do it on its own.
- Your local draft is not erased by publishing. It stays in this browser as your own copy.
- You can change or delete the memorial at any time from the management link. Deleting removes the record and the stored photographs.

A memorial is yours. Nothing about it is shared, listed or findable unless you decide it should be.

- Final Tail still does not run a memorial directory, so it is never promoted or ranked anywhere.
Honesty
What Final Tail will not do
There are no messages from other people
A guestbook needs somebody able to approve or remove what strangers write. Without that, a memorial page is an open comment box on the worst week of somebody's life. We would rather ship the candle and leave the guestbook until it can be done safely.
Nothing is ranked, and nothing is listed
Final Tail does not publish a directory of memorials, a list of the most-visited ones, or a count of how many candles each animal received compared with another. Even a public memorial is never promoted, featured or ordered against anyone else's. Grief is not a leaderboard.
A public memorial is still not advertised
Public means reachable and, with your separate consent, listable by a search engine. It does not mean Final Tail shows it to anyone. There is no feed, no recent-memorials page and no recommendation anywhere on the site.
